The Pumpkin Story

We as a family have decided not to celebrate Halloween but we do love the fall season and carving pumpkins! I recently came across this great analogy in regards to pumpkin's so I thought I'd share it here.

A woman was asked by a coworker,
'What is it like to be a Christian?'
The coworker replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.'
God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and
washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off
the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts
His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'

I thought that was a fabulous way of thinking about carving pumpkins! This will definitely be a story we tell every pumpkin season. I'll have to incorporate scripture to it next year and maybe pass this story out with some candy to trick or treaters next year (ran out of time this year)!

Kaylee's pumpkin read KAYLEE and Benny's pumpkin read BENNY! We had a smaller pumpkin that couldn't fit a candle inside that had a cross on one side and a smiley face on the other.
